▶ IPR Forum, widely known as a private KOTRA and an exhibition WAL-MART in Korea, has been very active this week in carrying out a wide range of business activities:






◎ International Exhibitions


▶ International food fair in Melbourne
"Fine Food Australia 2010", one of the most reputable fairs in food industry including retail and wholesale of various foods, food service, hotel service, premium catering that is being held alternately in Sydney and Melbourne every year, will take place in Melbourne on September 13-16, 2010. The organizer anticipates that over 1,000 exhibitors from 35 countries from around the world and 30,000 buyers will attend the fair this year. A total of 20 Korean companies will participate in the fair under the country pavilion, led by Korea Agri-Fishery Marketing Corporation.



▶ Thailand Franchise Fair in October
"Thailand Franchise & Business Opportunities 2010" will be held in Bangkok on October 7-10, 2010, attracting more than 150 companies from 10 countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Australia, France and the U.S.A.. Along with the fair will be held several supplementary events such as one-on-one business matching and seminar for brand advertisement, and a food fair will concurrently be held to help boost the number of attendants. The latest Korea cultural wave among Thai people enhanced their awareness of Korean products and brand, presenting favorable circumstances for Korean franchise industry to tap the local market via fair participation.



▶ Information technology fair in Istanbul
Seoul Metropolitan City and Small Business Administration will lead small companies in metropolitan area to information technology fair to be held in Istanbul, Turkey on October 6-10, 2010. The fair, one of serial fairs of Hannover, is the largest fair of its kind at the crossroad of Europe and Asia that attracts diverse buyers from Eurasian countries every year.



▶ India Worldwide Fair, a spin-off of Hannover Messe in Mumbai
India Worldwide Fair, a spin-off of Hannover Messe, the world's largest fair for industrial machinery and technology, will take place in Mumbai, India where five core exhibitions, MDA, Energy, Industrial Automation, CeMAT and Surface Technology will be held at the same time. Daegu municipality will shepherd small companies in the surrounding area for the fair participation, providing various subsidies for the participants' booth space and transportation.



▶ Explanatory seminar for SANA fair in Bologna
On behalf of the Italian food fair, SANA, due to be held in Bologna,Italy on September 9-12, 2010, Korea Agri-Fishery Marketing Corporation has held a seminar for prospective participants in order to prepare for building country pavilion and to familiarize Korean exhibitors with characters of the fair and necessary procedures by handing out printed materials.



▶ VIV China, the largest livestock fair in Beijing
VIV China, the largest livestock exhibition in the country, will be held at New China International Exhibition Center on September 6-8, 2010. Korea will be represented as country pavilion to be built by Korea Animal Medicine Association and Korea Trade and Investment Agency. Thanks to phenomenal development of processing technology and productivity and its geographical proximity to Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Philippines, China has now emerged as a huge market for livestock products. Korean companies are urged not to miss the good opportunity to present their innovative products through fair participation.



▶ Shanghai toys and toddlers goods fair in October
China toys and toddlers goods fair will take place at Shanghai New International Exhibition Center on October 12-14, 2010 under the organization of China Toy Association. The fair is reputed to be one of the most influential intermediaries to access into the vast consumption market, and the world famous toy distributors such as Lejia Toys, Horizon Group, Nanco-Nancy, Hobby Lobby Stores will attend to source and meet face-to-face with suppliers.



▶ China International Hardware Show in Shanghai
China International Hardware Show that encompasses the whole spectrum of hardware including machinery engineering will be held in Shanghai on September 28-30, 2010. As the second largest fair of its kind, the exhibition proves to be the most effective opportunity to tap the huge Chinese market. The hardware industry has made a consistent growth over the past years as to record 7-8 pct per annum, and the demand for machinery, machine tools, construction materials and daily consumables has continuously soared primarily due to active real estate market. Among many Korean products, security systems and products such as digital door lock and theft prevention steel door are considered to be promising items at the fair.








◎ Visitors


Richard Tan, chief executive of InfoCommAsia Pte. Ltd., the organizer of InfoCommAsia and InfoCommChina made a visit to Korea from June 28 to July 1, 2010. During his stay in Seoul, he called on Korea Broadcasting Engineers Association, Korea Outdoors Advertisement Association, Korea Hotel Management Association and major media companies in audio-visual industry to discuss about mutual cooperation in the years to come.



▶ Benjamin Chau Kai Leung, executive vice president of HKTDC, paid a visit to Korea on June 28-July 1, 2010. He called on a couple of big companies like Samsung and LG as well as trade-related organizations such as Korea International Trade Association, Korea Trade and Investment Agency, Seoul Industry and Trade Promotion Center for introduction of important exhibitions such as electronics, food and lighting fairs organized by HKTDC and for sharing trade information between the two countries.
