Roh, Bush to Reaffirm FTA in Summit



President Roh Moo-hyun and U.S. President George Bush are expected to express their joint determination for the establishment of a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) during their September summit in Washington.
``When President Roh and President Bush meet in Washington, they will make public their strong determination to conclude a successful Korea-U.S. FTA,'' said Vice Finance and Economy Minister Chin Dong-soo in a radio talk show. However, Chin didn't specify whether it will be a joint statement or a verbal declaration.

The two countries began bilateral trade talks in June to reach a deal before the Bush Administration's Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) expires in July next year.
