Roh, Abe Agree to Meet President Roh Moo-hyun and Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe agreed yesterday to hold a summit ``at an appropriate time’’ to discuss ways of improving bilateral relations, the presidential office announced.
The agreement was made when Roh received a telephone call from the new Japanese premier in the morning. The two leaders exchanged views on bi-national ties and North Korea’s nuclear problem, Chong Wa Dae spokesman Yoon Tai-young said.
During the 15-minute dialogue, Abe first expressed gratitude for the congratulatory message Roh had sent Tuesday and then expressed his intention to make efforts to develop the relationship into a more friendly one, Yoon said in a press briefing.
``There is nothing more important than mutual trust and respect for the improvement of bilateral relations,’’ Roh was quoted as telling Abe. ``I hope your inauguration would serve the improvement of our relations and peace and cooperation in the region.’’
